Jeff is a PhD candidate (expected 2026) in the lab of Dr Angela Crawley at the Ottawa Hospital Research Insitute and the University of Ottawa. His current work focuses on elucidating the mechanisms of systemic CD8 T cell hyperfunction in advanced liver diseases, namely in the context of chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD, i.e. "fatty-liver disease"). His work has yielded two published primary articles with a third currently in the submission pipeline. Jeff has received serveral scholarships and awards, notably the Canadian Network on Hepatitis C Doctoral Training Fellowship, Ontario's Queen Elizabeth II Graduate Scholarship in Science and Technology, the University of Ottawa's Syed Sattar PhD Student Award, and others. Jeff's research-adjacent interests include public health science and policy advocacy, where he is a proponent of Health In All Policies to tackle systemic health disparities.
